Cannabis Law Group Stops Eviction of Medical Marijuana Collective In City of Santa Fe Springs
In a big victory for on our medical marijuana collective, Cannabis Law Group was able to stop an eviction proceeding in the City of Santa Fe Springs. We have been fighting this case since last October after the landlord sued because they received a cease and desist letter from the city. Last week, we used the recent ruling in the Lake Forest v. Evergreen Holistic case to successfully persuade a judge in the Whittier Court to grant our client a stay of execution pending our appeal.
As many of you know, our firm was involved in the Lake Forest case and the ruling essentially stated that collectives cannot be banned by cities and counties. The case also said that collective cultivation had to occur at the dispensary site, in other words, no offsite grow for storefront collectives. The Lake Forest case may be reviewed by the Supreme Court soon, along with Pack v Long Beach and the Riverside case. Until then, we will use this case in court to try and keep our clients' collective doors open. If your collective is being threatened by your city, call us as we are here to fight for your rights.
